My Story

Hello, I’m Karen, creator of The Crafty Gulls. Welcome to my website of ‘cards and prints with personality,’ produced on the world famous Causeway Coast of Ireland.

Everything I’m sharing here is inspired by my love of the sea, which began as a child growing up on the beautiful peninsula of Portrush, Northern Ireland. Nowadays I’m lucky to be retired and still living in this incredible place with the freedom to indulge in year round dips and daily walks by our wild Atlantic Ocean. What a life! My gratitude is immense.

Over the last few years I’ve enjoyed using watercolour to express the exhilaration of swimming and living by the seaside. I’ve tried to capture the essence of salt air, bracing waves, joyful dippers and shrieking gulls- although the last two adjectives can frequently be interchanged! 

I get such a buzz when someone connects with my work, and I’ve been thrilled to hear that my cards have landed as far away as San Diego, Hong Kong and Australia! 

Mindful of the rising costs of living, I’m endeavouring to keep my work affordable by offering free UK second class postage with all card orders and by including just a £2 charge to help with careful packaging and safe delivery of my prints. So that’s all covered in the quoted prices with no shocks by the time you get to checkout! 

I’m also happy to offer international shipping of prints and card bundles, to USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, which can be applied at checkout.
